Henry's Story  Apr 05
Henry

H enry was taken for medical care because he had eaten a box of crayons. He appeared to have an intestinal blockage and perhaps would require surgery.

After a several hours of waiting for colorful results, Henry was still a pretty miserable and sick little boy.

A good call by an alert vet and a simple test revealed the source of the real problem. Henry was in full-blown Parvo!   Henry's bill - $560.02!

Now would be a good opportunity to get up on our soap box to proclaim: Rabies shots are required by law, but in our lifetime, the likelihood of us ever encountering a case of rabies is slim. Parvo and distemper, however, are very real threats to the lives of our pets.

There are many strains of these deadly diseases. Young puppies who have not been given the series of shots will often die from the disease, even after heroic and costly life saving efforts. The immunity passed on by their mother will only protect them for a short time. And, if the mother has not been given the proper immunizations, she will have no immunity to pass on at all!

Take your pet to your favorite veterinarian for an annual checkup. You will keep your pet healthy and be able to head off serious health problems.
