Pokadottie was abandoned and had several flea and tick collars around her neck. She had a bad reaction to these collars, but is doing fine now. She hard to catch on film as she is always on the move. Shadow Female, young adult, Papillon Shadow is just that - your shadow! She is very quiet and loving, gentle and sweet. Mama Mia Female, adult, Chihuahua X This poor little girl has been ill but is recovering nicely. She had puppies when we first rescued her but could not feed them and none of the puppies made it. We feel badly for her, but she is doing better now. She is a sweetheart and has become quite the cuddler. Vader Male, juvenile, Chow X Vader came to us by way of an emergency clinic. He had been run over and his left rear leg was broken. We tried to repair the injury but ultimately had to amputate his little leg. Vader is recovering very well and doesn't seem to even notice that he is missing a limb! Ricki (Max) Male, adult, Shih Tzu Ricki (Max) is a very sweet little fellow whose senior parent could no longer take care of him. He is a nice boy who is housebroken and crate trained. Corky Male, juvenile, Sheltie X Corky is a fuzzy little lovebug! He will probably have medium length hair when he is full grown, and with that foxy little face, he looks to be a Sheltland Sheepdog mix. He loves to play and also thinks your lap is a great place to rest. He seems to be comfortable overnight in a crate and uses the doggie door like a champ! Charley Male, juvenile, Schnauzer X Charley is so adorable and loving! He was left at a local facility and spent some time there before they called us. He is emaciated and was full of ticks and so his veterinary visit may tell us more about his health problems - if other than nearly starving! He is a sweet little guy who really wants to be loved! He sure liked the food we gave him! We are expecting a full recovery so send in your applications now! Carlie Female, young adult, Yorkie X Carlie came to us with the foulest breath! We took her to the vet immediately and found that her gums and mouth were full of stickers, grass and foxtails - so bad that the infection had eaten a hole completely through her lower jaw. We had a dental performed, cleaned out the wound and stitched it up. A few days of antibiotics and TLC, and voila! Carlie turned into the cutest, happiest, playful little girl! She is housebroken, crate trained, uses a doggie door and plays pretty well with the other pups in her foster home! Minnie Female, adult, Min Pin Minnie is the boss of everything. You don't even need to ask. She loves toys and OWNS all of them! She is a ball of energy and cuteness who literally bounces with joy! Minnie really does get along with both cats and dogs, but likes to be the center of the universe. You can't believe how adorable she really is! Sabina Female, adult, Chihuahua Sabina came to us just before Christmas and within a couple of days, she had delivered four beautiful little babies. One, sadly, died after a couple of days, but the others are happy and healthy and soon to be featured here for adoption. Sabina is crate trained, housebroken and playful. She loves being cuddled, too! She was a good momma but she would love her own home. Rudolph Male, juvenile, Chihuahua Rudolph, affectionately known as Rudy, doesn't look like his sisters. He has medium length, wavy hair. This photo was taken at 2 months of age. He was born December 21, 2007, and looks like a cross between a Chihuahua and a Sheltie or a Shih Tzu. Whatever combination that was, he is adorable! Louigi Male, adult, Chihuahua We call him Loui for short and sometimes "Pasta Man". Luigi gets along well with other dogs and cats. Sometimes he will chase the cats for a minute, just to make sure they know that he is the boss, but most of the time he gets along with them. He is a real character! Luigi is crazy for food and companionship, and he also likes to explore outside. He is a real sweetie! Winston Male, juvenile, Poodle Winston had a rough start in life. We repaired a badly broken leg for him and he appears to have healed very well. Thompson Male, juvenile, Shepherd-Aussie X (?) This timid little fellow was begging for food at a lumber yard up north. One of our rescue partners took him in! He is a little bigger than our normal "lap dog", and timid no more, but he is very sweet and loving. He gets along well with other animals, sleeps quietly in a crate at night, and uses the doggie door. He is a nice young fellow looking for love, no longer in all the wrong places! Kallie Female, adult, Toy Poodle Kallie was dropped off at a local facility because her owners got a new motorhome and didn't want it to be soiled by a dog. She is so traumatized that we are having to coax her out of a crate! She needs a loving home where she can learn to trust humans again. Paulie Male, adult, Terrier X Is Benji missing? This guy sure looks like him! He has overcome incredible shyness due to lack of socialization, but has crate-trained himself and does not mark in the house! Willie Male, juvenile, Border Collie X (?) Willie was chewed up by a larger dog and lost his right eye due to those injuries. He is doing very well and is ready to go to his new home. Roscoe Male, adult, Chihuahua Roscoe has had some bad experiences with children, and we suspect that his previous owners smacked him around a little. He is head-shy and insecure, but once he knows you and a gentle touch, he comes quietly up and asks to be picked up and loved. No small or rambunctious kids around this little fellow! Marla Female, adult, Westie X Marla and her daughter, Sophi, we dumped at a local facility. Full of ticks and brown in color, it wasn;t until they were bathed that we knew they were probably Westie crosses. Marla is very protective of her baby, and should probably be the only dog. She likes people and is very affectionate! Trixie Female, adult, Terrier X Trixie's owners just let her wander the neighborhood, unrestrained. She had a huge mammary tumor, taken care of when we had her spayed. Trixie is a love bug - quiet and gentle - with big eyes that literally talk to you! She gets along well with other animals, is housebroken and crate trained. Zannie Female, juvenile, Westie/Terrier X Zannie was so shy the first few days we had her that she found a crate and stayed in the back where we couldn't reach her. All that has changed! She has found herself and her playmates to be just what the doctor ordered. She is probably already full-grown and is the size of a miniature Schnauzer. If you want a happy, playful pet, Zannie may just be THE one! Precious Female, older adult, Yorkie Precious is a spunky little old girl whose family let her run around unattended. She had been picked up by a local facility several times and the family chose not to pick her up. She gives wonderful kisses! She sleeps in a crate at night (asks to go to bed!) and uses the doggie door to go in and out when she needs to. Precious tolerates the other animals but like to "boss them around!" We think she is adorable, but she doesn't like her picture to be taken. This one is before grooming. Sarah Female, adult, Dachshund X Sarah was owned by an elderly man who could no longer keep her. She loves to play and talks (not barks) when she is happy and excited. Both brothers are healthy, have now had their first in the series of puppy shots and have been dewormed. PC Male, adult, Long haired Chihuahua PC suffered from a dislocated elbow. The bones were pulled out of socket somehow, probably when he was picked up by the leg or dragged by it! He deserves better than that kind of treatment! He is ready to go to a loving home! Sorry - absolutely no small children! He weighs about 4 pounds and is just a couple of years old. Bonnie Female, juvenile, Corgi X Bonnie was returned supposedly due to allergies. It may have been that puppies are a little more work than anticipated. Bonnie is actually the calmest of all of the Corgi cross puppies. She is enjoying her reunion with her mom and dad, but she really needs her own home! We will update her photo this weekend. Pelusa Female, adult, Toy Poodle Pelusa is housebroken and very gentle. She would do best in a quiet household and is not at all recommended for children of any age. She has been very neglected. She and another pet were taken off the streets, matted, skinny. They had belonged to a family that had been seen swatting them with a broom. She would be excellent for a retired couple as she LOVES to sit in your lap. She would probably appreciate another dog, but she can be a little jealous if she is in your lap. Brandy Female, adult, Miniature Dachshund Brandy was adopted and returned because her owner said she could not housebreak her. At her foster home here, she uses the doggie door and has had no accidents! She likes to sleep on your bed, under the covers, but she will also sleep quietly in a crate. She is a loving and sweet little girl who makes no trouble and gets along with the other pets fostered in her new home. She is a tiny little girl who really needs to put on some weight, but is otherwise the greatest little companion ever! Sugar Female, adult, American Eskimo Sugar was a spoiled companion to a lady who can no longer keep her. She is housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained. Sugar is getting along well with the pets in her foster home. She is a nice little girl who would probably enjoy being the only pet in the house! Rocco Male, juvenile, Aussie He is extremely bright and must be near you for cuddle time. He loves to play fetch and run around the yard by your side (and is happy to nap at your toes as well). He plays very well with other dogs and cats. He is not food aggressive but does take a while to settle down if you are leaving the house or going to bed (just because he feels too far from you). He is still working on his house-breaking but as a bright little boy, with the attetion he needs to be let outside, he will be fine very soon. He would also have no problem with a doggie door. His is a superb agility-dog in the making. He loves to leap over little things in a single bound (we had to break out a higher baby- gate to keep him in the kitchen), but a standard cinderblock wall has been keeping him in the yard.
