PeeWee's Big Adventure

Shadow
Imagine being about 6 or 7 inches tall in the world of humans. Then imagine that you slipped unseen out the door, trying to follow your "mom."

Shadow, the tiny little 11 year-old Chihuahua did just that and was lost in the city for about eight days before someone read the newspaper ad and thought our little rescue pup might just be him.

For two days, this little fellow would not eat for us. He wouldn't make a sound and did not want to go to the bathroom in this strange new environment.

On Saturday morning, we got a reaction from him when we were cooking breakfast! We were, unbeknownst to us, cooking his favorite treat: BACON!

We used that knowledge for the next couple of days, mixing his bacon with regular food. He would ever so carefully pick out those special chunks of bacon, and leave the rest!

The phone call came on Saturday afternoon. A lady in the neighborhood had lost her little Shadow. Could this little fellow be him?

We went to see the family on Saturday night and when Shadow saw his mom, he started "talking." He licked her face and licked her hands and was telling her all about his adventure. He was still telling his tale when we left.

We found out that Shadow and his mom always sleep together. I bet Saturday night was the best night they ever had!
