Special Pets with Special Needs
Can't adopt right now? Perhaps you could "sponsor" one of our special needs companions! Some are older pets and others have have substantial medical needs. Many consider them to be unadoptable and they remain under permanent foster care. All have tons of love to share and we try to make them as comfortable as possible. Your financial help is always appreciated, but your open, loving homes are the best gift you could ever give one of these precious babies!

Glori Glori
Female, adult, Min Pin X
Glori has had a rough start in life. She was actually adopted from a local shelter after she came in with two broken legs and other injuries. The great vets there were able to save one leg but had to amputate the other. She was also obese and had to lose a lot of weight! Once healthy, she was adopted to a nice family. Somehow, she made her way back to yet another shelter and then found her way to us. Glori is a sweetie who would like to share your home and your lap. She may have been snappy with younger children so we won't place her in a home with young children. But she certainly deserves a chance to live her life in a loving home with an empty lap to fill! Her amputation does not slow her down a bit! She is very active and alert and also healthy!

Noodle Noodle
Male, adult, Chihuahua X
Noodle, named for his swinging rear legs, is a darling little fellow who turned up at a local facility more than once. The first time he was dropped off, he had popsicle sticks duct taped to his rear legs; the last time, he had socks duct taped to his rear legs. At some point in his life, his rear end/back end was injured - or this could be a congenital problem. He gets along very well, but has an unusual gait (no longer drags his feet!) He was also nearly starved, but he has gained weight and is actually very healthy. Noodle doesn't realize that he is handicapped and thinks he is a big dog with attitude. He is the cutest little stinker! His new owner should be mindful of his fragile spine and should include a quiet household with non-challenging siblings and no small children.

Roo Roo
Female, adult, Chihuahua
Roo has had some damage done to her right front leg, probably when she was a pup. She gets along just fine now, but we think she may have some arthritis as she ages (won't we all?). We have had her checked out at our veterinary clinic and it is their belief that surgery would not be beneficial. She is a doll, however, and loves to cuddle! Nothing like a nice warm spot in the sun to make a girl feel wonderful!

Brownie Brownie
Male, adult, Chihuahua
Brownie has a deformed elbow on his right front leg. Our vet thinks surgery would not be beneficial. He does use the leg but has a slight limp. He is a wonderful little guy, shown here guarding the food bowl!

Rosie Rosie
Female, adult, Terrier X
Rosie's mom did not want to give her up, but she had become so protective of her. The split was difficult for both of them and it took a couple of weeks for Rosie to settle in. Now she is animated and happier, yet remains reserved. She is a really nice little dog who deserves a great home with a loving family. Please think about her if you are looking for that special companion!

Aurora Aurora
Female, adult, Chihuahua
Aurora was so shy when she came to us.  Now, she interacts with the other animals and has become more social. In the right home, personal and individual attention would probably win her completely over! She appears to be happy when you come home and asks for attention. She will take treats from your hand and asks to be petted. And, she sleeps in a crate at night - which she asks to go into! She is housebroken and doggie-door trained and gets along well with the other foster dogs as they come and go through her home. Since she had such a bad start, we still feel that her new home should not have any small children.

Mona Mona
Female, adult, Min Pin X
Mona has bad knees that need to be surgically fixed. She is a love bug who likes to cuddle, but can't do a lot of walking or playing until her knees are repaired. She is a little dolly. If you can donate to the Mona Fund, we will be able to surgically repair her little legs and get her on the road to finding a new and loving forever home!
