A little more about me.
Rufus is an active, playful and snuggly 13-pound male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix with plenty of energy and personality. 5 years old. He loves chasing toys, playing tug, going for walks and settling in for cuddle time. His ideal family will keep him engaged during the day and let him snuggle close at night.
Rufus is neutered and current on vaccinations. He knows to potty outside and uses a dog door reliably. Because he was recently neutered, he may mark while adjusting to a new home and will benefit from patience and a consistent routine.
Rufus requires a securely fenced, medium-sized yard that he cannot dig under. He can become protective and territorial of his people, so adopters should be prepared to manage his environment and provide slow, safe introductions to new visitors.
Rufus is selective with other dogs. He lived with a cat and a child in a previous foster home. His foster did not personally observe all of that history, but did see Rufus interact very well with a seven-year-old girl when he arrived in Albuquerque.
